  1. Sweep or vacuum hardwood floors as often as possible. A good stick vacuum can assist by taking a few minutes to remove debris. Debris, dirt and dust can ruin the finish of hardwood by getting into the grinds.

  4. Hang blinds or curtains on all windows. Sunlight will harm and change the color of wood floors.
  5. Use a good canister vacuum to clean the floors once a week or bi-weekly and follow up by using a steam mop to disinfect the floors. Steam mops will clean flooring more efficiently than a mop and not ruin the finish if used correctly compared to chemicals.

How to Clean Carpet Stains!

  1. Understand what spill you are removing from your carpet. Google the PH level of the substance that has been spilled so you know the proper chemical solution to use to bring the PH level back to a neutral level. For instance cleaning wine verse cleaning soda stains require different actions as each reacts positively to different chemicals. Try to stock a mix of spotting chemicals to ensure you can address each type of spill. Using the proper solution to tackle the spot can make the difference between having a clean carpet verse ruining the area.
  2. Try to blot as much of a spill up before attempting to treat the area. Use a butter knife to scrape a much up without rubbing it into the carpet fibers.
  3. Never saturate the area being cleaned with cleaning solution as you'll ruin the fibers of the carpet further and risk that the spot size increases.
  4. Cover the surrounding area of a spot with towels to dry any spreading while cleaning.
  5. Test solution on an extra piece of carpet or in an area not seen to avoid using solutions that might cause untreatable damage to the carpet.
  6. Apply the proper chemical after testing to the spot and agitate it into the carpet. Do not rub the chemical in but try to tap it in with a wooden spoon.
  7. Allow the solution to work for a bit and then blot the solution up with a dry cloth removing the stain.
  8. Possibly repeat steps if needs further treatment.
