Vacuum Bags | Top Selling Vacuum Cleaner Bags

Taking care of your vacuum cleaner can save you a tremendous amount of money in costly repairs. Vacuums that are maintained well can save users headaches in the future. One of the simplest steps of taking care of your vacuum cleaner is to check your vacuum bag regularly. A vacuum bag should never be filled to the top as this puts unnecessary stress on your vacuums motor and will cause your vacuum to die quicker. A vacuum cleaner that has a full vacuum bag will also not perform as well as a vacuum whose vacuum bag is ½ full. A vacuum collects debris much better when air flow isn’t restricted and a full vacuum bag definitely restricts airflow.

All vacuum bags have a line on them that indicates the maximum level to fill your vacuum bag and it is highly recommended to follow this advice. Vacuum bags are a necessary vacuum part that shouldn’t be overlooked. The top selling vacuum cleaners like Kirby, Hoover and others all have many different vacuum bag choices and there are also many replacement vacuum bag options not made by the manufacturer that can save you a lot of money and are made typically better like Envirocare vacuum bags.

How to Clean a Bathroom Faster

Bathroom cleaning is just simply not an enjoyable task. Unfortunately the bathroom is probably one of the areas that should have the most frequent cleaning. Having the right cleaning supplies and a system in place to follow can help make this task much faster and easier. There are many cleaning tools available for cleaning your bathroom, but try to keep them all together in a nice cleaning tote or bucket for easy access.
The following are the cleaning tools you should have in your tote:
• Scrub Brush
• Toothbrush
• Sponge and a Medium Scrub Pad
• Cup
• Glass Cleaner
• Disinfectant
• Tub Cleaning Chemical
• Cleaning Rags & Microfiber Rags for the Mirrors
• Feather Duster
• Comet or Bon Ami
• Toilet Brush

Now that you have your cleaning tools in order, the following is the step by step way to clean your bathroom efficiently and rapidly!

1. Clear the bathroom floor of everything including the garbage can, floor mats and anything else. Wooly the bathroom walls and light fixtures with either a feather duster or wooly. This will allow all top dust to fall to the surfaces or floor that will be cleaned later.

2. Vacuum the bathroom floor with a good canister vacuum next before cleaning as the floor should still be dry. Vacuuming helps when cleaning the floor to have all debris and hair lifted.

3. Start the cleaning with the Bathroom vanity and sink. Scrub the sink with your sponge and bathroom cleaner. Make sure to disinfect the counters and clean light switches on the wall. Use a toothbrush around faucets to keep clean and avoid build-up of debris. Before drying and polishing the sink fixtures make sure to clean the mirror. This will save you time when cleaning as when spraying the mirror spray may come back on the sink. Clean your mirror and then dry your sink, counters and faucets.

4. After cleaning you sink proceed to your Bathroom tub. If your bathroom isn’t cleaned weekly before starting step three and doing your bathroom vanity, pre-spray your shower with you Bathroom cleaningto allow it time to loosen any soap scum. Start with your shower ledges, walls and then the floor. Comit or Bon Ami works great for removing soap scum from your shower floors. Sprinkle a tiny amount on the floor and use a 3M Scotch-Brite Scouring Pad that is slightly damp to scrub the basin of your tub. This cleans well and works just like the magic eraser for removing the dirtiest debris and hard water stains. If your shower head doesn’t extend, use the cup in your tote to rinse the walls and clean your shower head. For shower glass doors to maintain a perfect look, regular cleaning is important and it is also important to dry the doors to prevent water marks. Spray some WD-40 on a cloth quarterly and wipe the doors to apply a protective coat to prevent soap scum from adhering. Use a toothbrush in shower track doors and rinse with a cup also before doing the floor of the tub.

5. Next clean your toilet bowl with either your bath cleaning product or toilet cleaner. Make sure to spray with a disinfectant and clean the tops, sides and behind the toilet. For hard water stains use a Pumice stone. Pumice is a great cleaning tool. Make sure to clean the toilet paper dispenser to remove dust.

6. Clean all wall fixtures and clean behind the bathroom door. Use a good disinfectant cleaner to wipe away all germs.

7. Lastly starting from the furthest point moving towards the door wash the floor with the appropriate cleaning chemical. Use your scrub brush on grout to loosen anything and clean appropriately. Try to do bathroom floors on your hands and knees and make sure to clean vents, baseboards and in corners.

Following the above cleaning procedures with the appropriate cleaning tools should greatly reduce the amount of time necessary to clean a bathroom. Master Bathrooms typically take 20-25 minutes to clean, Hall Bathrooms 15-20 minutes and powder rooms 7 minutes when following the above sequence. Enjoy cleaning!

Leather Cleaning | 3 Step Process to Clean Leather

Leather furniture has a beauty to it and must be cared for to retain its natural look. Your sofa, clothing, chairs or even your interior of your car that have leather should be cleaned regularly to maintain that new look. There are many cleaning products available for cleaning leather and cleaning it isn’t very difficult. Ignoring proper care of your leather products can result in aging and worse cracking. Spending a little time cleaning and protecting your leather products can result in great long term savings.

Cleaning your leather is a three step process. Much like caring for your hair you should clean it first and then condition it. The final step is applying a protector that will help minimize any potential damage. The three step process of cleaning leather is simple and will keep your leather looking its best. Leather needs care for it to look its best as sunlight, dirt, oils and other debris can easily damage it. There are many cleaning chemicals to choose from in kit packages and the following is the three step process to keeping your leather looking its best.

1. Cleaning | There are many cleaning chemicals available to clean leather. Leather Master manufactures many leather cleaning chemicals that work well. Make sure when cleaning your leather that no greasy feeling is left. Follow the cleaning chemical directions, though using a small amount of the chemical on a damp cleaning rag will work well. Always test in a hidden area on the leather to assure it doesn’t fade it.

2. Condition | Leather should occasionally have a conditioner applied every six months at minimum. Leather conditioner replenishes the natural moisture and oil that is removed from leather during cleaning, sunlight, dry air and other elements. It will provide a natural lubrication to keep your leather from tearing or damaging.

3. Protector | Protector is a must cleaning chemical application to leather. Protector will help your leather against staining, cracking and unnecessary aging. This cleaning solution protects against spills, rain/water damage, dirt and other soils.

Repairing Furniture Scratches Easily

This weekend’s mini-project next to cleaning the home was to see how easy it would be to repair scratches and dents on furniture. 1 Dog, 3 Children, the neighborhood hang-out and you could only imagine how our furniture does. The end result is that every household should own this kit for their cleaning supply bucket. This furniture touch up kit is so easy to use and well worth the $7.

Master Caster Restor-it Furniture Touch-Up kit is a must own cleaning product. The kit comes with 5 different wood grain markers depending upon your furniture’s color to choose from. It includes a Natural wood choice color, light oak, Dark Oak/mahogany, Walnut and my favorite Cherry Red Mahogany. The furniture kit also includes three filler sticks with a light, medium and dark filler to choose from. This filler is good for deeper scratches, gouges, cracks or holes. Between the filler and markers you can easily restore your furniture quickly and easily.

Restor-It furniture touch-up kit is a cleaning supply that stores nicely in the packaging it’s sold in. You can use this on furniture, wood floors, cabinets, doors, frames, chairs and much more. Our weekend project entailed repairing a recliner chair that had scratches along the sides and a kitchen cabinet that was introduced to our children’s toys and thus dented. For the dent we colored it in easily with the wood filler and then used the marker to blend the color of the cabinet. The chair was just minor scratches, though several and our kids enjoyed coloring the scratches away. The end result was phenomenal and everything looks new. It took less than 10 minutes and only required a cleaning rag. Once you apply the marker you can simply wipe it with cleaning towel and it blends all together.

There are many manufactures of furniture repair kits, but we found the Master Caster Restor-It to be easy to use and for $7 not expensive. You can use this on office furniture also making it a great office supply to own. The Restor-It is a must own cleaning supply for cleaning accidents caused by vacuums and so many other reasons. The following is a short video from Master Caster:

Indoor Dust | 8 Ways to Reduce Dust inside your Office or Home

Dust in a home or an office is impossible to eliminate. Dust comes from so many area’s that it is virtually impossible to eliminate regardless of how often you clean and what cleaning products you use. Over 80% of dust comes from our own skin and fabrics throughout your home or building. Your clothing, shoes, bedding, chairs, curtains and so many other daily items are capturing and releasing in the air fibers of dust.

Household dust travels from outside to inside your home or office easily and no cleaning supplies can stop it completely. Dust enters your home from open doors, windows, shoes and many other ways. Dust can contain tiny amounts of human skin, plant pollens, animal hairs and many other elements. Dust is so lite that it can settle on any surface and move back into the air very easily. Dust is extremely unhealthy for people with respiratory problems, small children and the elderly. With all of this said, dust can at least be controlled and limited by the following 8 steps:

1) Vacuum Cleaners | Regular office or household vacuuming is crucial to controlling indoor dust. Use a good lightweight vacuum cleaner that has a good filtration system. A commercial vacuum cleaner can have more power to vacuum deep in the fibers of a carpet. Vacuuming should be done often and definitely near doorways daily.

2) Carpet Cleaning extractor | Carpets capture a ton of indoor dust and need to be cleaned often. A commercial carpet extractor or good residential carpet cleaner should be used at least twice a year on all carpets. Vacuuming is great for carpets, though nothing removes more dust that is trapped in the carpet fibers than a good carpet extractor.

3) Dusting | Dusting your house or office should be done weekly. Use a good microfiber cleaning cloth or cleaning rags and wipe each surface with a cleaning chemical of choice. Microfiber towels capture more dust than does a regular terry cloth towel. Microfiber rags also limit the amount of cleaning chemicals that are needed when cleaning.

4) Cleaning Blinds & Curtains monthly | Blinds and curtains by windows capture a lot of dust. Use a canister vacuum cleaner to vacuum your curtains often. Most vacuum cleaners have a vacuum accessory tool for dusting, like a dusting brush. For blinds use a good feather duster that captures the dust verse moving it back into the air. Ostrich feather dusters are the best for this.

5) Bedding | Your bedding should be washed weekly as your bed captures more dust than anything in your home due to your skin cells. Vacuum your mattress monthly with a good canister vacuum that preferably has a vacuum bag option. Use the vacuum cleaners upholstery tool for this and make sure to vacuum top, sides and the bottom.

6) Filters | Change your furnace filters often, at least quarterly. The number one cause by far of furnace problems is dust. Changing the filter is better for your furnace and health. Also remember to change your vacuum filter often.

7) Furniture Care | Cushions on chairs should be vacuumed and cleaned often. Dust is attracted to your furniture and use a good canister vacuum cleaner to vacuum your cushions often. Leather furniture should be wiped with a leather cleanermonthly.

8) Air Purifier | Consider purchasing a good air purifier. An air purifier can greatly reduce the amount of dust indoors and also cleans the air you breathe. Austin Air Purifiers and Blue Air are some of the best purifiers available. There are several other manufactures, though do your research before making a purchase.

Hoover Canister Vacuum Repair | 3 Steps to assure peak performance from the Hoover Portapower

Hoover vacuum cleaners have so many different choices for all different styles of vacuums. The Hoover Portapower canister vacuum is a great commercial vacuum at a residential price. This canister vacuum is made to last a long time and has amazing power. Commercial cleaning companies find this Hoover canister vacuum to be a dependable choice and a must have cleaning supply. Residential homeowners will love the price of this Hoover and will find it the best canister for hardwood floor cleaning. The Hoover Portapower has been around for several decades and goes by the Hoover CH30000 and in the past the Hoover C2094.

The following are a few basic steps to take when your Hoover Canister isn’t performing the same way as when you purchased it.

1) Take your Hose off your canister vacuum and turn the vacuum on. Put the palm of your hand against the intake where the hose goes. Try to see if as you pull your hand away if the vacuum will move with your hand along the floor. You can also attach the vacuum to the wall and turn it on. If the vacuum is able to hold itself up your vacuum is fine and go to step 2.

2) Check your Hoover Portapower medal wand to assure nothing is clogged in the inside. If you can see clearly through it you’ll want to check the vacuum hose next. On the back of your Hoover Portapower lift the gate and attach the vacuum hose to the hole. Turn the vacuum on and this will blow out your vacuum hose if anything is stuck inside it. You should do this outside as a lot of dust will come out of your vacuum. If nothing comes out you may need to use a small pole to push anything out. If the vacuum isn’t sucking still and nothing is in the hose your vacuum hose probably has a tiny hole inside it and you’ll need a new vacuum hose. Hoover vacuum parts are easy to purchase and replace.

3) If in step one the vacuum itself isn’t powerful enough to hold itself up you’ll want to do the following. Assure that you have a vacuum bag in place and if so that the bag isn’t to full. An empty Hoover vacuum bag is better for performance. The Hoover Portapower’s carbon brush may need to be replaced and is an easy fix. Simply take the casing off and attached to the vacuum motor is the carbon brush. Replacing the carbon brush will make your vacuum perform like new and it’s a low cost vacuum part to replace. Replacing the vacuum motor would be the only other step to take and usually shouldn’t have to be done for years, unless if used daily for commercial use.

The Hoover canister vacuum will last commercial users 2 years typically before having to replace the motor and many years for a homeowner.

Regular Cleaning Greatly Improves Indoor Air Quality

Cleaning your home or facility on a regular basis greatly improves the indoor air quality. The air inside our homes and offices is said to be much worse than the air we breathe outside. Indoor air pollution can be from our cleaning products we use, cooking, dust, leaking faucets, heating systems, outdoor pollutants that get trapped inside and much more. Many of today’s newer buildings are so air tight that not enough fresh outdoor air is brought in to circulate the indoor air. Regular cleaning of your facility can greatly improve the indoor air.

Vacuuming your facility with a good commercial vacuum can be one of the most significant ways of improving the indoor air. Regular vacuuming with a good upright vacuum cleaner can capture much of the dust that is generated inside our building. Vacuuming the entryway mats each day can have a significant impact on reducing the amount of dust in the building. A good backpack vacuum will make vacuuming a facility easy and will greatly help get into tight areas easily. Choose a commercial vacuum that has good filtration and lightweight vacuums are also easier to use.

Dusting of walls and ceilings in your facility is important to do before vacuuming on a regular cycle. High dusters can help remove cobwebs and debris that are breading grounds for bacteria. Have a good ostrich feather duster to dust pictures on walls and work throughout the room from top to bottom. Dusting your facility on a weekly basis can have great benefits and vacuuming afterwards with a good Hepa Filtrated Vacuum will greatly help indoor air quality.

Buildings should also have their floors cleaned professionally on a regular basis. Carpet actually is great for improving indoor air quality as it captures soils, though the carpets should be cleaned with the best carpet extractor on a regular basis. A heated carpet extractor is good as the heat will extract soils stuck deep in the carpets. Having a good carpet cleaning chemical can also greatly help in extracting soils deep in the carpet and there are also many carpet protector chemicals available. Consider using a good carpet pre-spray chemical with a sprayer in high traffic areas for best carpet care. A professional commercial carpet extractor should be used minimally twice a year in commercial buildings.

Indoor pollution can greatly impact those inside buildings both short term and years later. There are many professional steps that should be taken, though regular scheduled cleaning will greatly help improve indoor air. Dusting, vacuuming and professional carpet cleaning will help reduce indoor pollutants and make for a much healthier workplace or home!

Choosing Carpet Cleaning Chemicals

Cleaning your carpets on a regular schedule has many benefits. Carpet cleaning by a professional with a commercial carpet extractor can add an additional 5 years to a carpets life. The cost savings is tremendous by not having to replace your carpet as often. Professional cleaning of your carpet also has a great impact on indoor air quality. A commercial extractor is able to remove the deepest soils and allergens that have negative consequences on ones breathing. To get the best performance from your carpet extractor it’s important to choose the best carpet cleaning chemicals.

There are many different carpet cleaning chemicals to choose from. There are great commercial cleaning chemicals and household cleaning chemicals. Understand that there is not one carpet cleaning chemical that can clean all carpet stains. Though it may be nice to limit the number of cleaning products that you want, you’ll need to have a few different carpet chemicals to tackle all stains.

Cleaning a coffee stain is not the same as cleaning a grease stain. Stains that are caused by high acid solutions are best cleaned with a carpet cleaning solution that has more of a base ingredient. It’s also highly important when cleaning if it is a new stain to not rub the cleaning solution into the stain. Try to clean up as much of the spill scraping it up before applying the floor cleaning solution. Apply a carpet spot remover and blot the spot away. If you purchase a good carpet cleaning solution for your carpet extractor, you can then purchase several smaller spot removing chemical choices to tackle the various different types of spills.

Having the right cleaning supplies to preserve your carpets can greatly help you tackle the toughest challenges. Having a great carpet extractor definitely helps, though the right carpet cleaning solution can help make your floors that much cleaner. There are also carpet pre-spay cleaning solutions that help make carpet cleaning that much easier. Lastly after cleaning your carpets there is also carpet protector chemicals that help your carpets resist stains. In conclusion some simple cleaning steps can help you preserve your carpet for many more years compared to those who don’t regularly clean their carpets.
