How To Choose An Upright Vacuum

  • Consider Features: Cord Length, Warranty, Manual carpet-height adjustment for different carpet styles or picking up fine sand on hardwood floors, attachments for stairs & upholstery or do you have a canister and most importantly if you own a pet how they perform with pet hair pickup. Recently the Hoover U5491-900 & Oreck XL were voted among top consumer choices for Pet Hair Removal!
  • Bagged or Bagless: Bagless are less expensive long-term but can be messy & dusty to empty.
  • dB Rating: This is the Noise level of a vacuum measured in decibels. The higher the dB the loader the vacuum. Typically above 80 will be very load for office or residential environment.
  • Weight: Heavier doesn’t always mean stronger.
  • Amp: Though many folks believe a higher Amp means more power it isn’t always the case. Many 7 amp vacuums outperform 12 amp vacuums.
  • CRI Approved: This is an institute rating of vacuums that are Green Label approved and better indoor air quality protection.
  • Price: Higher Price tag doesn’t always mean better performance. The Hoover Tempo was ranked among the top for residential home owners by a leading consumer magazine and cost is under $80!
