The Center of Disease Control has stated that the single best way to prevent illnesses is through good hand hygiene practices. Hand soap and hand sanitizers can greatly reduce the spreading of germs. Hand sanitizers are extremely convenient as washing ones hands is not always so simple and using a sanitizer can greatly assist. There are multiple different choices for hand sanitizers and each with their own benefits.

There are alcohol based sanitizers and non-alcohol based hand sanitizers. Some will argue that alcohol based hand sanitizers are much more effective than non-alcohol based. Alcohol based hand sanitizer does not leave any alcohol on the hands after it dries and is completely safe. Some individuals will also argue that alcohol based will dry your skin, though the manufactures will argue that it is less irritating on the skin than soap is. Non-alcohol based hand sanitizers claim to be less sticky and much safer. They will claim to be just as effective in killing germs and illnesses.

There are gel based, foam based and liquid based hand sanitizers. Foam based sanitizers are better for children and doesn’t waste as much as a liquid or gel based. Foam based sanitizers can be two times more cost effective. Some individuals prefer liquid and gel based sanitizers though, as it will feel like washing with soap.

In conclusion good hand hygiene can greatly reduce the spread of germs and lead to a healthier facility. Regardless of the type of Hand Sanitizer, it is a great product to use even after washing ones hands to assure all germs have been killed. Every individual has their own preferences, thus it’s recommended that you try both a gel and foam for your own preferences. Hand Sanitizer should be a part of all hand hygiene solutions!
