How to Clean Pollen In your Home & Reduce Suffering

Ragweed season kicks into full force in August. Over 20 percent of all people suffer from Ragweed pollen. Pollen tends to be around from August all the way until the first frost. Pollen doesn't only impact those with allergies but everyone with the nasty film left behind on your cars, property and indoor furniture. Here are a few steps you can take to reduce the suffering of both allergies and having to clean the pollen around your home!

  • Try to keep windows closed in the home and the air conditioning or fans on.

  • Change your air conditioning filters regularly to allow for reduced pollen particles in your home.

  • Shower before bed or wash up well to remove any pollen from your hair, skin and face.

  • Give your animals a bath regularly as they can track the pollen into the home and move it around. Pet hair attracts pollen easily.

  • Dust with a good micro-fiber cloth that is slightly damp to absorb as much pollen as possible. Do not use a feather duster to spread it throughout the home and dust often during pollen season.

  • Vacuum carpets often with a strong HEPA vacuum. Consider vacuuming hard floor surfaces regularly with a good canister or stick vacuum. Daily vacuum by your entrances and wash doormats often.

  • Purchase a good Air Purifier. Even a low cost purifier like the Thermax Air Purifier for under $30 works great. The water captures everything and the purifier is cheap enough to place in all bedrooms.

  • Wash clothes immediately after being outdoors when the pollen count is high.

In conclusion dealing with pollen is difficult, especially for those with allergies. Itchy eyes, running nose, soar throat and pollen all over the place is terrible for anyone. Following the above steps can help reduce the annoyance factor of pollen and help you live a little more comfortably.
